Summer Skin care 2018

Tired of using the old bar soap and your face looking drab? Here is the most basic, but BEST, way to start taking care of your skin. Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated and we would love to recommend what type of products suit your skin the best. Determine what skin type you have: Acne, Skin Aging, Dryness, Oiliness, or Sensitized.

1.Cleanse.  Soap-free Dermalogica Cleansers lift impurities, address skin issues and prep skin for treatment.

2.Exfoliate. Exfoliation can be done either physically (small granules that scrub the first layer of the skin) or chemically. Exfoliation removes the old dead skin cells on the outer most layer to reveal fresh and brighter skin.

3.Tone. Dermalogica Toners shield against assault, increase product penetration and even out skin porosity.

4.Serum. Innovative serums and oils to hydrate, repair, and protect your skin.

5.Moisturize. Moisturizers will hydrate and help balance out oily or dry skin based on the moisturizer you get.

6.Protect. Lastly, but the most important step! Protect your skin with our range of broad spectrum SPF products. The sun is the number one thing that destroys healthy skin. Never leave the house with out it, even if its winter!

What is the Best Haircut For a Round Face Shape?

What is the Best Haircut for a Round Face Shape?

Not sure if you have a round face shape? When you pull ALL of your hair back, its easy to see! If the width of your face is about the same length, then it is ROUND! Also, a sure sign of a round face shape is the inability to see your jaw-line. Our goal is to elongate a round face shape. We want to create length to the face with our haircut, which will give the illusion of a slimmer face.

Length. If you can flaunt it, long hair works perfect with a round face shape. When hair is longer around the face, it will slim the sides and lengthen the face. BUT, for those ladies who cannot wear it long, do NOT be shy when cutting it short. The most flattering short haircut for a round face-shape is to show LESS hair, more face :). Do not hide behind your face, instead a sexy, short pixie haircut is the way to go! Leave the hair around the sides of your face on the longer side for a slimming, flirty style.

Bangs. Its all about the bangs, bout' the bangs! A side bang or a longer middle part bang flatter a round face shape. A side bang that shows the highest point of the forehead, and cuts off the sides of the face softening those round features. A middle part with a longer bang (below the cheekbones) also will give a narrower illusion and be super flattering.

Keep layering to a minimum. "Over-layering" the hair will create volume at the sides of the face which will just make the face shape appear even ROUNDER! Keep the layering below the chin and do not "over-do" your "hair-do". :)

Volume. Volume in the right places, i.e. the top of the head, will work magic with a round face shape. The haircut should give you the ease to create volume on the top of your head. (The Crown). This will elongate your round face shape and will give the appearance of an oval face shape.

How To Clear Up Acne

Posted:

Acne. The sweet gift left by our over-active sebateous glands. The best part is- its on the part of our body that every single person we come into contact with sees, our face. There are many causes and many treatments.

Here at Salon Envy we offer an amazing treatment regime to follow and clear your skin from this wretched issue.

Causes: Diet, Lack of Water, Stress & Hormones, Bacteria from hands/makeup brushes/ sheets/pillows, Internal Factors, Soaps/Cleansers, Moisurizers, Hair Products, Etc.

Salon Treatments Recommended:
1) Facial. We recommend to come in for a facial because it will help us determine the best possible products and regime for your skin.  We may recommend doing extractions that will rid your skin of the dark, clogged sebum in your pours. This will give your skin a fresh start.
2) Acid Treatments. We may recommend an acid treatment to dry up your current acne. They will also exfoliate and leave your skin feeling cleaner, smoother, and resurfaced after one treatment.
3) Routine. Its all about consistency when it comes to skin. Rule out all of the possible problems by combating them all... Here are the most common causes and solutions...

We are going to LETTER them, since all are important and there is no specific order.

A) Drink AT LEAST 8 glasses of 8oz of water daily.

B) Eat your FRUITS & VEGGIES. Make sure you are consuming those vitamins within your diet and also if possible, supplement with vitamins to give a bonus to your diet.

C)Exercise Regularly. I know this sounds like a broken record for some of you. Exercise *even as little as a 30 minute walk a day* will not only stimulate positive hormones in your brain, but it will help decrease stress & clear up skin. WIN-WIN!

D) Cleanse 2x a day with Dermalogica Medibac Acne Clearning Cleanser. When cleansing, Pat dry with a clean washcloth and moisturize with Dermalogica Mediabac Acne Mattifier. At night time, spot treat with Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel.

E) New Makeup Applicators Daily. We can't stress this enough. Makeup containers contain MILLIONS of bacteria in them! Use a fresh new sponge or cotton daily. Otherwise your acne will be pasted on daily and you will never clear up! Make sure your makeup kit looks like it is BRAND NEW. It should be spot less.

F) Clean sheets & pillow cases at least once a week. Use a natural detergent free of fragrance and other chemicals that will just irritate your skin and cause more acne.

G) Use Oil-Free hair products and keep your hair off of your face. Bangs are NOT good for a client that has acne. The oil from our scalp travels down our hair shaft causing oil on our skin. NOT good.

Cleansers, Moisturizers, Clearing gels, Daily makeup applicators, Oil-Free hair products, (Keep Hair OFF Face), Clean your pillow cases & sheets weekly,

The Basic Steps of a Facial. What is included in a facial? Have you ever wanted a facial, but wasn't sure what to get?

Posted:

Facials are an amazing way to feel relaxed and to take good care of your skin. They will leave your face feeling healthier, more radiant, and beautiful!

Have you ever thought of getting a facial but were not sure what steps were included? Facials are VERY important! Over 60% of people do not use the correct products for their skin type and do not take care of their face properly. Your esthetician will not only recommend which type of facial is best for your skin but will give you a professional recommondation on how to take care of your skin! They will also show you the way to the best products we carry by Dermalogica.

Here are the main STEPS of a facial appointment!

Facials are done by our licensed estheticians who have been trained in skincare, trained on our machines that help improve skin texture and tone, body waxing, and different skin and body services.

1. The Initial Consultation. We will discuss your skin type and give our best professional recommendation as to what you need for your skin. A facial's primary purpose is to keep your skin looking radiant, healthy, and fresh! It all starts by getting what is best for your own skin type.

2. Cleansing. Now this sounds so simple, yet many people do not even know how to properly cleanse their face. We make sure to give your skin a deep cleanse by washing your face and neck areas very thoroughly. Our estheticians use long smooth strokes to massage your face and neck areas. A proper cleanse is the most important part of your facial!

3.Steam. We use a profesional steamer that has very high heated steam to open up your pores on your skin and prepare them for the rest of your facial. This is the most relaxing part, I think, because it keeps you warm and it feels wonderful!

4. Exfoliation. This can be mechanical or a chemical exfoliation. We use scrubs or peels to penetrate to your skin and clean out excess dirt, oils, and other environmental factors that may be clogging your pores.

5. Extractions (if needed). Many times your skin will need extractions. These are ok to be done as long as a professional is doing it. This is wear pressure is placed on specific areas of your face to remove dirt, oils, or built in sebum that wouldn't come out during the cleansing or exfoliating.

6. Facial Mask. Certain facials we offer include deep penetrating masks. Each mask we offer is a concentrated dose of the treatment you need whether it is hydrating, clearing, firming, or calming. We place the mask on your skin and have you relax while the mask does its job.

7. At Home Maintenance Recommendations. Our staff will recommend the best facial products to maintain healthy, radiant, and beautiful skin! We do the best job to make your skin look as perfect as it possibly can, than it is up to you to maintain skincare at home!
