What is Olaplex?

If you know of KIM KARDASHIAN, then you know she is a huge advocate for OLAPLEX. Especially when she went from BRUNETTE to PLATINUM basically overnight- She posted she could have never done it without Olaplex.

Olaplex Hair Treatment is hair TLC on an entire new level. It works on a molecular level to seek out broken bonds in the hair that are caused by chemical, thermal, and mechanical damage. You can use Olaplex to restore compromised hair, or add it to another service to provide the ultimate breakage insurance.
The treatment takes 15-20 minutes in salon as a stand alone treatment, but it can also be used in junction with your hair color service. Step 1 is added to your hair color formula and your ends, then Step 2 is done at the shampoo bowl after your color service. What is left is incredibly feeling, STRONGER, hair.
One comment we recieve often from our clients is that after  Olaplex, they notice less breakage and less hair around their bathroom sink from random breakage/brushing after blowdrying and styling.

Olaplex is a 3-step treatment. Olaplex step 1 and Step 2 are done as an in-salon treatment. Step 3 is a take home system that can be done as prescribed by your stylist to maintain IMPROVEMENT in your hair quality and texture.

REPAIR your hair at home, with the Olaplex At Home Care system.
Steps 3, 4 & 5.

Repair, Strengthen, & Protect all types of hair with Olaplex At Home.

Lived-In Color & Style at Salon Envy

a.k.a. The after-math of ombre. Created by Ramirez and his entire team in Beverly Hills, California that specialize in "lived-in color" - a subtle, enturing way of highlighting your hair that he insists is neither balayage nor ombre. "Lived-in Color" is also known as the 6 month color.

Its about as low maintenance as you can get with hair color, but as cutting edge as hair color can be.. We love this technique and are thrilled about the new opportunity to go to Beverly Hills and take classes from Ramirez-Tran Salon hopefully in the next year.

In the mean time, follow Ramirez on instagram and continue to gawk at his work. We specialize in balayage in at Salon Envy and LOVE to incorporate some of his color techinques into our salon.

What is Balayage Hair Color?

Balayge is ultra-customized, minimal maintence, soft hair color that creates dimension and a sun-kissed look... Balayage is by far the most requested in salon hair color service we offer here at Salon Envy.

Salon Envy Chicago is known as "Top Salons in Chicago". With cutting edge techniques such as "lived-in hair color", "balayage", "hair painting", "American Tailoring", "foilyage", "Sombre", "ombre", precision hair cutting and much more.

If you have been thinking of trying some balayage hair color and are ready to UPDATE your hair color,  here is a good read to understand balayage before your service..

Balayage is a coloring technique used to create sun-kissed, natural-looking highlights. Used as an alternative to foil highlighting, hair color or lightener is swept or painted onto the individual hair strand to create depth, lightness and dimension.  The method originated in France in the 1970s. The word “Balayage” actually comes from the French word “to sweep.”

Balayage hair painting is less expensive to maintain than traditional highlights. Many can go 3-4 months between appointments since your natural hair color will blend in with the natural-looking, painted highlights as it grows.

Balayage hair painting isn’t just for blondes or one type of haircut. It is also perfect for brunettes and redheads that want a subtle, sun-kissed look. Balayage can enhance almost any haircut, length or texture. You can customize your cut by adding dimension with Balayage to show off the shape.

Balayage is the in-salon color service choice among celebrities, models and fashionistas – those that demand hair color to be designed exclusively for them. Balayage allows your colorist to utilize their creativity and artistic talent to personalize the placement of each highlight for a customized result.

RedHeads: Best Red Hair Color Advice

Your Go-to Guide to Becoming A Redhead

You know you've thought about it. If you ever seen a woman wear it right, its a color that screams CONFIDENCE! as she strolls on by...

Red is the most VIBRANT hair color to wear that still can pass for natural :). Heres some perfect tips/tricks to follow before becoming a redhead.

The Green-eyed Red Head. Most likely if you have a primary eye color of green, you will make a FABULOUS redhead. Alot of times clients with GREEN eyes, have copper color specks in their eyes. These little specks of color are what we call your "secondary eye color". This is what we like to match hair color to. Green eyes literally POP with a redhead hair color shade of COPPER. (See photo below) Copper is more of an "orangey-red".

The Blue-eyed Redhead.  Red hair is super flattering to those blue-eyed beauties. Copper hair color is more of a orange-red, and this red is more of a blue-red. The blue-reds will compliment the Blue-Eyed beauty even more than any red shade. If you want to dabble in red, ask your colorist to add a peek-a-boo highlight just around your face. :) You'll be surpised how many people notice a little, but flattering change!

Top Benefits for Waxing Your Sweet Spot

Posted:

Why Should you Wax Your Sweet Spot? :)

1. Clean, Sexy, Smooth skin for WEEKS.
This means no daily maintenance. Waxing can last 4-7 weeks. Leaving silky, smooth skin around your sweet spot. Whether you get a brazilian wax, (what our esteticians are known for), an in-betweenie wax, or a bikini wax,  you'll stay smooth for weeks. Waxing pulls hair from the root, eliminating the black stubble that a razor leaves on the skin.

2. Silky Skin, no razor bumps.
You won't have to worry about razor bumps or burns... All those nasty bumps and burns come from shaving, not waxing.

3. Thinner, less hair re-growth.
The more you wax, the less hair that will grow. Also, hair will grow back less coarse. Fine hair is much more pleasant than thick, black coarse hair down there!

4. It is fast, effective, & convenient.
Our esteticians usually take less than 30 minutes for a FULL brazillian. No more wasted time and energy in the shower by shaving. No more razor shopping and those little accidental cuts with new razors.

What Hair Color is Most Flattering for Your Eye Color & Skin Tone.

How HAIR COLOR can make your EYE COLOR POP!

GET THE PERFECT TRIO. Match your Hair Color, Eye Color, & Skin Color.

GET HAIR COLOR THAT IS FLATTERING.
The most flattering hair color comes when you have "THE PERFECT TRIO". A perfect trio is when your hair color matches your skin tone and eye color. Your perfect hair color will make your eyes POP. Your eyes will appear brighter and bigger. It will also go well with your skin tone. The right hair color will give your skin color, vibrance, and softness. The wrong hair color will do the exact opposite, it will wash you out, make you look drab and dreary.

During your consultation at SALON ENVY CHICAGO, we will analyze your eye color & skin tone to determine the most flattering hair color for you.

In case you want to research some pictures before your appointment.. Here are some easy tips for figuring out what hair color scheme is good for you!

Our EYES have two colors. A primary color and a secondary color. The primary eye color is what you see the most of and most likely will be on your identification. Brown, blue, green, & hazel are the most common primary eye colors. The secondary eye color is what may be a ring around your primary eye color between your pupil, it may be tiny specks around the center pupil, too. This color is what we match your hair color to. Golden, copper, platinum,  hazel, or brown colors are most common for secondary tones.

THE THREE CATEGORIES THAT MAKE UP EYE COLOR & SKIN TONE ARE:

WARM, COOL, & NEUTRAL.

WARM- Warm skin tones have a golden, soft honey skin color. Their natural virgin hair colors will have warm hints of tones such as orange, copper, golden, or red. Warm skin tones typically have eye colors that are brown, hazel, golden light brown, or green.

COOL- Cool skin tones are the most common of all skin tones and have a slight red hue. Their natural virgin hair color will have cool hints of tones such as ash, dirty dishwater blonde, black, cool brown, or silver (grey). Cool skin tones typically have eye colors that are blue-green, light blue, dark blue, or brown-black.

NEUTRAL-Neutral skin tones are as easy as this= they are neutral. Neutral skin tones typically have hair and eye colors that have a mix of warm and cool tones. Typical eye colors are mixed, such as blue-green eyes with hints of copper, or eyes that can go from a warm-green to a cool blue, depending on what clothing or hair color they have. This is the easiest skin tone to work with because the possibilities are endless.

You want your hair color to compliment both eye color and skin tone. Here I will list a few common eye colors and hair color pictures to go with them.
