Best Hair Color for Green Eyes

What is the BEST hair color for GREEN eyes?

Green eyes are little tricky son-of-a-guns because some green eyes have platinum specks and some have copper specks in them. The "specks" are the little flakes of color that we call your SECONDARY color. This is the color we use to match to make the most flattering hair color for you.

Blonde Problems: Restore The Integrity Of Over-Processed, Dull, Broken Hair

Prevent And Repair Breakage

Keep Those Unwanted Brassy Tones At Bay

If you're like most blondes, you know that keeping your hair healthy and luminous can be a challenge. Regardless of which lightener you use, it is inevitable that you're hair is going to suffer much more than if you didn't color it at all, but us ladies would rather maintain our general fabulousness than think twice about pushing the limits on the strength of our hair. Fortunately, there are things you can do to prevent and help restore the breakage that comes with being a blonde.

Using salon grade products only when you're in salon is the first mistake you're making. Just because once every month or two when you get your hair done and use top of the line products at that time, doesn't mean that you can go to your local drug store and pick up whatever shampoo and conditioner is on sale once you leave. There is a reason why great salons carry great hair care lines, and it's not to force you to buy something that you don't need. (it's the opposite!)
YOUR HAIRSTYLIST CARES ABOUT THE HEALTH OF YOUR HAIR (maybe even more than you do!)
As hairstylists, we work hard to make you look amazing and the right home-care products are one of the most important parts of keeping you looking just as great as you did when you left the salon!

Option #1 Home-Care recommendations for blondes who need repair and prevent breakage and aren't concerned about brassiness

Masques give your hair extra moisture and protection against previous and future hair stressers including heat styling and coloring. Fall 2016 Hair Color Trend:

Color Melting

Color Melting is a technique wher3 or more hair colors are used that are similar, yet different. It blends the hair color creating a "color melting" effect. When your hair color "melts", its hard to tell where the highlights start or end.

What Is a Color Melt?

"A color melt is a dimensional look that has a lived-in feel with brightness around the face and absolutely no hard lines of demarcation," Adams explains. "The color literally melts in gradation from dark to light." If you've never highlighted your hair before it's a great first step. "You can introduce yourself to color or try something different," she says. "It's easy and chic."

Maintaining Your Melt

The biggest bonus of this highlighting technique-which is most often achieved with hand-painted balayage-is its low maintenance upkeep. Adams says you can go as long as 10 to 12 weeks between visits to freshen up the look, add brightness to the highlights, or deepen the base color if needed. Depending on how often you go you can have as much pop or as much of a natural feel as you want.

The biggest benefit to "Color Melting" is that there are no harsh lines like highlights in foils create.

Why is My HAIRCOLOR Fading??? Hair Color TIPS!

Why is MY Hair Color Fading!?

Hair Color Probs. No matter WHAT YOUR COLOR, hair color fades. We all know this, the struggle is for real. There are many ways to ELONGATE your color job. We are going to list the top 5 tips to prevent your hair color from fading.

5. BE PATIENT...
Wait AT LEAST 24 hours to cleanse & condition your hair after you have your hair professional colored. If you can wait 48, EVEN BETTER! Let the color molecules set and give it time to cure, per say.

4. TURN DOWN THE TEMP...
Wash your hair in cool-luke warm water. Even if you love those hot-burn-your-skin type showers, make sure to turn down that temp when you are washing those locks. Hot water will open the cuticle more and the color will "slip" out faster, losing those color molecules FASTER. Plus cooler water keeps the cuticle closed and enhances shine. Shiny hair is YOUTHFUL hair.

3. DON'T SKIMP ON SHAMPOO.
So your hair color professional will recommend the proper shampoo and conditioner for the maximum potential of your hair color. Since you already invested in great color, do not skimp on what you cleanse & condition it with. Pay the little extra to get your product from the salon, so you know you will get the MOST out of your color. Alot of shampoos will actually strip the color molecules out and can fade your color extremely fast.

2. COVER YOUR MANE. When in the SUN or WATER, cover that hair! If you are a swimmer and in constant chorline, WEAR A SWIMCAP. Chlorine will fade hair color FAST. Most importantly, cover your mane in the SUN! The SUN is the ultimate hair color "bleach". It will lighten any color, whether virgin hair OR permanently colored hair. I recommend getting a product that is a UVA protectant such as Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer and wear a hat if possible.

1. LOSE THE TOOLS.
Believe it or not, HOT tools cause a significant amount of hair color fading. We love Guy Tang and his video on hair color fading. He shows how even 2 seconds of flat ironing your hair can cause a HUGE difference in hair quality and  hair color fading. Check it out here!

Spring and Summer Hair Trends 2015

2015 Spring & Summer Hair Trends

Baby lights

Baby lights are ever-so-trending for the summer 2015. Baby light highlights are especially popular around here in Chicago, where everyone is outside and eating on patios as soon as it hits 60 degrees. Baby lights brighten your current look and keep you enjoying your summer instead of having to be back in for color every 4 weeks. They are a natural sun-kissed "baby" highlight. They are so tiny that they resemble a little toddlers natural sun-kissed highlights. The look of baby lights throughout the head and a heavier highlight around the face resembles how the hair is naturally lightened by the sun. They are pretty and low maintenance, two of our most favorite things.

S'Ombre

S'Ombre has been in fashion for a while now, A.K.A subtle OMBRE haircolor. This is a technique where we gradually go from a darker haircolor to lighter through the ends. Ombre is most definitely still in, but for summer 2015, its all about the warm softer tones. What is trending everywhere from Victoria's Secret models to the top fashion magazines are golden brunette colors at the base and a gradual fade to honey, caramel blonde tones. Ask your stylist about warming up your hair color to flatter your soon-to-be HOTT summer tan!

Balayage

Balayage highlights can be done in any form or fashion from baby lights or a natural highlight. Balayage means to paint on hair color in a certain way to create a gradual fade (dark to light). This is how we do very natural looking highlights or ombre. Balayage is in style for summer and the typical foiled highlights are so 2010.

Short Sexy Haircuts
Short hair is EVERYWHERE for summer 2015 hair trends. Sexy, short, and wavy bobs, "WOBS" scream CONFIDENCE! This sexy short haircut is adorable worn with a natural beach wave or curled with a wand. Blunt bobs or long bobs, "LOBS", are the newest haircut update we've been creating on our clients. If you've have hair LONG for the past 10 years of your life and need a change, go for it. Your hair will be easy to style, cute & sexy. It makes a world of a difference to have style created in your haircut, rather than spending all the time trying to style the long drab hair.

Long Hair.

Long haircuts for spring 2015 are layered all through the front of the hair, leaving the back one length. Long hair doesn't look good if it is thin, so leaving the back one length creates a thick more blunt look on the ends. Adding layers all through the front removes the weight from your hair to create volume and style in your long hair.

BABYLIGHTS: The New Trend in Hair Color

Posted:

Ombre, S'Ombre, and now BABYLIGHTS. Babylights are the hottest new trend in hair color. They are very natural, baby fine (we're 3-5 strands) highlights that are balayaged into the hair. Balayage means to paint on the highlights without foil or any type of papers.

Balayage highlighting is a favorite of celebrities and models like Gisele Bündchen, Eva Longoria and Sarah Jessica Parker!

It varies by client, but many can go 3 - 4 months between appointments since their natural hair color will blend in with the natural-looking, painted highlights as it grows.

5 WAYS TO HELP FADING COLOR

5 WAYS TO PREVENT HAIR COLOR FROM FADING

Let's face it, hair color fades. I don't care if its the most permanent hair color on the market, we all experience it. Here are a few TIPS to prevent your hair color from fading.

1. KNOW YOUR COLOR/COLORIST. Know who is doing your color and what color you get. Are you getting permanent hair color re-freshed your ends with a high developer over and over? Do you use a semi-permanent that fades automatically within a month of shampooing? Make sure your colorist is KNOWLEDGEABLE and knows how to prevent fading. This way they won't be the one causing your hair color to fade.

2. USE THE RECOMMENDED SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER. Your colorist should ALWAYS reccommend shampoo and conditioner. Listen to them and take their advice. Not only will this help your color LAST, but also will keep your color VIBRANT!

3. LIMIT HOT WATER ON YOUR HAIR. Hot water will open the cuticle of your hair, which will make hair color fade out faster. Be sure to use a cooler temperature on your hair when shampooing and conditioning.

4. LIMIT SUNSHINE ON THOSE LOCKS. The sun will definitely fade your color. Even if the weather is cloudy and you think the sun isnt shining out there, it is. Be sure to wear a UV protection product in your hair and/or a hat.

5. PROTECT YOUR HAIR FROM THE CHLORINE. Swimmers beware: pool chemicals fade hair color tremendously. Be sure to load the conditioner on your hair before you swim and shampoo immediately after.

Demi-Hair Color. What's Up With It?

It is in-between permanent and semi. It is called Demi. It will give you RICH COLORS, INCREDIBLE SHINE, & NO AMMONIA.

Hair Color Fading Problems. Why does my hair color fade? How to prevent hair color from fading! FADING FADING FADING!!!!

Posted:
Well if you color your hair, you most likely suffer from hair color fading. Its normal! Even with permanent hair color, the color still fades over a period of time.

The 5 most common reasons why hair color fades...........

1.) The sun can cause hair color to fade.

2.) Many enviromental factors and pollutants can cause hair color to fade.

3.) Your shampoo and conditioners can cause hair color to fade.

4.) The minerals from the water can cause hair color to fade.

5.) The temperature of water can cause hair color to fade.

Over the years I have learned that there are a few things that help your hair color from fading:

After your color application be sure to add on a treatment to help preserve your color and protect your hair. Salon Envy recommends by Kerastase the in-salon fusio dose treatments or Bumble and Bumbles Color Minded Treatment. Both are in-salon treatments that are inexpensive and will help prolong your hair color from fading.

home-fusio-dosebb

Color care shampoo and conditioner recommended by your stylist. If you buy store bought shampoos and conditioners they have cheaper chemicals in them (which is why they are cheaper) which will strip your hair and do the exact opposite of what you want!

~Bumble & Bumple color minded shampoo and conditioner is a great line for color fading and also Kerastase Chroma Riche and Chroma Captive sulfate free shampoo and rinse out.

Wash your hair in milder temperatures and rinse in cool water to close the cuticle and seal your color in. Make sure if possible to wait at least 24- even better 48 hours after your color application to wash your hair.

Limit your hair to sun exposure by wearing a bandana, hat, or scarf. Almost everytime clients come back from a sunny vacation their hair color is faded dramatically. The sun literally bleaches hair. Even if it doesnt feel strong or if it is cloudy, believe me, the rays are bleaching that hair!

sunshine

Protect your hair with a leave in product. When your hair is exposed to high heat from your blow dryer or iron tools the cuticle is damaged and the hair becomes more porous. When your hair is more porous it will likely fade because the cuticle is more open and the color slides out faster! To protect your hair color from fading try Kerastase Chroma Thermique (a wonderful thermal protector and shine enhancing moisturizer. For you sun exposed clients out there try Kerastase Huile Celeste. Huile Celeste protects your hair from the sun, sea, and chlorine.

Products to Keep Handy at the Office

Friz day

In this summer heat, there is no telling how our style will stay throughout the day. By the time you're off the train and walking into work, the cute curls you put in an hour earlier are now frizzed and falling out! With the right products in your desk at work, this can be easily fixed! Walking into your office with A/C from the humidity does nothing flattering for your precious locks! To maintain your style and combat the humidity and frizz, you need to be prepared with a few of our favorite products.

Kérastase Cristalliste Lumiere is an anti-humectant and smooths hair without weighing it down. It is PERFECT to add shine and combat the humidity!

Another great product to have on hand is Bumble & Bumble's Defrizz. It does exactly what it says - protects against frizz, acts as a barrier to humidity and leaves hair soft, silky and flyaway-free!

Always keep these products by your side and during the summer, give yourself a little bit of extra time so that you have time to primp before work starts!

On the other end of the work day, whether you're going out for drinks with your friends or dinner with your boyfriend, you need to be able to switch your style from day to night in a flash! We've all been there - this is why we love the idea of keeping a drawerful of travel size hair products at your desk!

All of the stylists here at the salon LOVE Redken's Quick Tease. We like to call it our "backcomb in a can." You can fab up your look with some extra volume and texture in a pinch! Spray 10-12 inches away to add texture, or 4-6 inches away as a volumizer for the root. For extra volume, you can use your backcomb to tease it, otherwise the product works great on its own!

Another go-to product for a quick hair fix is dry shampoo. Redken has a great one, and it comes in travel size - perfect to carry around in your purse or keep at work! Bumble also has a fabulous dry shampoo specified for each hair color - AND it comes in travel sizes, as well!
