What is the difference between Remy human  hair extensions and other hair extensions?

The difference between Remy hair extensions and other types of hair extensions is the direction of the hair cuticle.  Remy hair extensions are crafted from hair with the cuticle facing in all one direction.  Inferior quality hair extensions are created from brushed hair that has been gathered in large quantities with the hair cuticles facing in two different directions.  When the hair cuticles do not face in the same direction, matting and tangling is inevitably the result.  Some companies attempt to remove the cuticle by using a chemical treatment.  This process however results in destroying the hair structure and creating very fragile hair.  To combat the damage, a silicone layer is sometimes applied to the hair extensions to add shine and body that were removed during the chemical treatment.  This outer coating can have a very short life.
