I went to Maiden Lane Salon today for the first time ever (I live in Menlo Park, so it's quite a commitment!). I had seen a women w/ a fabulous cut and asked her who she used - turns out it was Berlin at MLS. After having a quick convo w/ Berlin I knew we had simpatico, so I made an appointment. I couldn't be happier with my cut - Berlin GETS me and this cut is rockin' good. He's fearless with the shears (he may have a diff vibe with other clients, but he could tell that was fine for me) and it was like scissorhands - with hair flying. When the dust settled, I was amazed at what had happened. Transformation. Wow. I wanted short & edgy, and that's exactly what I got. Add to that very stylish and clean. Like I said. Wow. I'm definitely going back. Already made my next appointment. As if that wasn't enough, the receptionist is gracious and helpful. I'm sold. Mary Ann M. |

Berlin Fisher, with Maiden Lane Salon, has been my stylist extraordinaire for over 10 years now... I have been to many, many hair stylists - some good, some not so... my experience with Berlin is that I've never had a bad haircut or color... NEVER... He is truly an artist and knows his stuff... A few times, I 'cheated' and did (gasp) bottle color for lack of time/money but Berlin took it in stride, forgave me and fixed the mess I made! He knows first hand the struggles I've had managing my curly, frizzy hair in San Francisco. When he mentioned I might be interested in trying the Brazilian Blow Out, a conditioning, smoothing, protein treatment (no chemicals), I was hesitant for... about a day. Now, my hair is smooth, soft and so much easier to care for. I blow it dry with my fingers in the morning or let it air dry and that's it! Smooth and no frizz... If I want a little more volume, I use a round brush. It lasts up to 3 months, and I like how the curl comes back...On top of it all, my hair is healthier than it's ever been and actually growing longer (I don't have to cut it as frequently due to split ends). So, if you just need a hair cut or color or want to give the Brazilian a try, I highly recommend Berlin! (for before and after pics, check out my profile... my hair was super curly/frizzy so the before pic is not true...that was after my first treatment so it wasn't completely grown out...but it will give you an idea...) I followed Berlin here from the salon on Nob Hill where he'd previously worked. He's a master at color. I have him rejuvenate my formerly red hair, red being particularly tricky to do so that it looks natural. His cuts are consistently good, too, and he really LISTENS. In addition, Berlin is always on time. I never need wait. He's not un-busy; he's just efficient and well-organized! And as a bonus, Berlin is a really nice guy. And by the way, he's a regularly featured guest stylist on the local ABC TV show "View from the Bay" so you can just imagine how confident, able, articulate and telegenic he is. Paula H. |
