OPI Gel Color

OPI is the leading brand for nail polishes in the world.  The newest addition to their professional line is the OPI Gelcolor collection.  The Gelcolor is another option for professionals who want to use soak off gel.  OPI currently has another product called Axxium, which is applied from a small jar using paint brushes, while the Gelcolor comes in a nail polish style bottle with a traditional built in brush.  Similar products include CND Shellac, Orly GELFX, and Harmony Gelish.

GelColor product line

OPI decided to launch their GelColor using their best-selling core colors from their nail polish line. These 30 colors that they chose included but are not limited to: Passion, Ink, Kyoto Pearl, I’m Not Really a Waitress, Bubble Bath, My Private Jet, Lincoln Park After Dark, You Don’t Know Jacques, A Grape Fit, Cosmo-Not Tonight Honey, A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find, Miami Beet, Strawberry Margarita, Russian Navy, Black Onyx and Big Apple Red.

How do you apply OPI GelColor?

The application process for the OPI Gelcolor is the same as any other soak off gel polish (Gelish, Shellac, JustGel, etc…). You start off by cleaning and prepping the nail. Then you apply a lay of GelColor base coat. After that you apply two layers of GelColor color coat to obtain the desired color density. You then top it off with GelColor’s Top Coat. Just as any other soak off gel polish, you will have to cure it under a UV or LED lamp after every coat (base, color, and top). Once you apply the final layer, which is your top coat, you will need to wipe the nails with cotton and 90-99% alcohol. This step will remove the sticky residue and create a high gloss shine.
