Set in a cute, old town row home with a little open patio out back and a complimentary glass of wine, Lorraine Aprile will not disappoint. Almost a month later and I'm even loving how the cut is growing out!

Best hair color and highlights I have ever had!  
I decided to give Lorraine Aprile Salon in Alexandria a try after having several bad hair colorings at another salon in Old Town Alexandria.   I had seen reviews on line, which were great.   I had also walked past the salon many times.  I loved the quaint look of it.  
The salon is classy, elegant and warm.  Perfect for Old Town.  The staff was warm, friendly, and professional.  I was greeted by just about everyone who was working there when I walked in and then offered a beverage and munchies.  After speaking with my stylist (the owner), we decided on a plan to undo the horrible brassy orange highlights that were placed by another salon.   I could not be more happy with my color, cut and highlights.   I have never loved my hair so much!   And my husband said he has never seen my hair look better!
Lorraine Aprile Salon is the best!  It is a welcome change from the ultra modern, cold, impersonal, and unprofessional salons that are so prevalent.

I was in DESPERATE need of a haircut (my hair grows fast and it was getting out of control) and I was kind of in the market for a new hair salon in Alexandria. I had been going to another area salon, and while I had an OK experience there, I felt I could get a better haircut/atmosphere elsewhere. So I turned to my trusty friends here at Yelp and decided to give Lorraine Aprile a call to see if by any great chance they would have availability on a Saturday (note that I called the day before) and luckily, Carmen was available! I arrived a few minutes late and was a bit spastic because I had a hard time parking (I really suck at parallel parking...) but Carmen didn't mind and was warm, friendly and really took her time with my hair. I talked to her about the issues I have with my hair and she knew exactly how to address them.
And the bonus was since it was my first time there, I got 50% off! You can't beat that. I have already booked another appointment with Carmen to spruce up my hair color for spring in a few weeks. So happy I found a salon I can trust!

Everyone in the salon took great care of me. It was truly a team effort. I came in for a haircut and met with the lovely Lorraine. She gave me a thoughtful recommendation for my cut (a different stylist had done a poor job on some of my layers). The end result was magic. I have been flying back to Florida to have my hair done for the last five years and it has taken me this long to find someone I trust. I have been to a few different recommended people in town - it is so wonderful to finally have a place to go where I feel like no matter which stylist I get they will all be of top notch.
As for the rest of my visit, I previously touched up the roots myself and the color was starting to grow out. Even though I did not book time for the color they were able to fit me in for color, high and low lights. It made a huge difference especially because the color I had done myself looked pretty bad as my own roots began to grow in. I had three shades - not pretty. The advice she gave for how to blend all my colors together was perfect. Lorraine started me with the root touch up and Kris finished up my high and low lights. She was a perfectionist with her work - as is the standard for the whole place. I was in need of a fresh look and I got it -  a totally new woman by the end:)

I found this Alexandria salon on Yelp while on vacation and the reviews were spot on! The salon is located in a gorgeous and quaint townhouse in Old Town and feels real cozy. I was greeted by Lorraine's sister and offered a glass of wine while we had a good chat - happy hour and service with a smile! My stylist Laura did a great job on my hair cut (I have thick, long, Asian hair which is a lot of work to cut) and her mannerism was so gentle and lovely. All the staff were good listeners who will work with you to get the results you want. I just wished I found this salon sooner when I was living in DC. Highly recommended!
