Xxx Ham - March 2019 As someone who just had their usual hair stylist cancel on them, I was extremely scared to get my hair cut from somewhere I didn't know, especially since Harrisonburg haircuts aren't exactly cheap! When I first walked in, I was greeted by my friendly stylist, James/Jay I think his name was, and even offered me a drink! He spoke to me about my hair and what my style was, even how I washed it. 6 inches off and a new haircut later, I felt relieved he did such a good job! The hair layering was perfect in every way, made me feel so much better to have a whole new transformation. If you get it cut by his wife, it's $35 for cut, wash, and style. $60 for James. I did a search. Read the Yelp reviews. Loved that Brown & Company use Aveda products. So, I made the call, a little bit hesitant, but the gray had to go away. I was fortunate to have Emily do my hair. I explained my worry (which probably was too much pressure to put on her.) Emily did a fabulous job and made sure it was perfect to my liking before I left. I totally put my trust in her and I have no regrets. I love this Salon and the people that work here are fun people to be around. Emily took her time to really understand what I was looking for and came up with a plan to meet my needs. The entire staff is like a family, and my experience was wonderful. I love how they take time to help one another, and are consistently eager to learn from one another. Even the owner was on the floor helping out in anyway that she could. I had a later appointment that took longer than anticipated, but they never made me feel like they were rushing or upset about being there so late. This will be my new "home town" salon. I would highly recommend paying them a visit. Charity - April 29, 2018 I'm so happy I found this salon. I moved to Harrisonburg from a larger city about 4 years ago. I have tried so many stylists in the area but I was never fully happy with any of them. Emily at Brown and Co. is fantastic. She listens to exactly what I am hoping to achieve and executes. She has cut my hair twice now and each cut is perfect. I just went for a color yesterday and I could not be more pleased. She is meticulous with her balayage technique and it shows - it's the best color I've ever had! She stays current on modern styling techniques which [for me] has been hard to find. The salon is very laid back and has tons of products to choose from (yet they don't push product on you at all). I would most certainly recommend them to anyone. I called and made an appt 3 days out with Jay. When I walked in I was comfortable from the start. Receptionist new exactly who I was, offered me a drink and I sat for no more than 3 minutes. Jay introduced himself and we got started. I have had long hair for the last 18 years and was ready for a change. My hair is very thick and straight, I relayed to Jay what I wanted and what I didn't want. I had brought some photos as well. Jay listened and evaluated my hair. He told me his plan, and we got started. I ABSOLUTELY love my new cut!! the whole experience was great. when I walked out, I felt like a million bucks. So I knew I would write a review saying as much, However, I thought like many woman do when leaving a salon," Can I make it look like they did at home?" So after 3 days- I still LOVE my cut and YES I can make it look like Jay did!!I truly believe that is in part to the cutting techniques used! Stephany - 2016 To be honest, I have always preferred to go to the dentist than to a hair salon. I just don't like most salons - they usually smell of hair product and disappointment. I've been salon hopping, hoping to find one I like. In this process, I decided to try Brown & Co. I am so glad I did! Jay was very friendly and professional. He actually listened to what I had in mind and made a few suggestions that helped me, rather than ignoring what I wanted. He has a great eye for which hairstyle goes with which facial shape. And for once, I felt completely comfortable in the salon. The ambiance is great - it's an older home with parquet floors and great architectural features. And the atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly. Most importantly, I left with a hairstyle I love!

Had a great experience here. Got a very high quality haircut from very professional individuals. I was treated very kindly despite it being my first time there. The price was high at 20$ but reflects the quality. Would reccommend to guys looking for a good haircut.

My daughter and I have been going to Brown & Co. since they opened and we always leave feeling wonderful! Jay, Ann and Sarah are all artists, really. They take the time to know you and listen to what you want. They just do a beautiful job! Usually I just sit in the chair and say " Do whatever you want"... not many people can say/do that. But really that's how great they are! I recently had my eyebrows done by Sarah... and I have never been so excited about my eyebrows .. in fact I just ignored them all together because it never "wowed" me. Then in steps Sarah....she listened to exactly what I wanted and did just that! Just call! Make an appointment... You'll be so happy you did!

My wife and I have been regulars at Brown and Co. since they opened their doors a couple years ago (and before that we were their clients at their previous salon). Needless to say, we couldn't be any more happy with the service from Jay and Ann. They always are very welcoming, the salon is always sparkling clean, and their stylist skills are unmatched in Harrisonburg. They know what they are doing and the best part is, is that they care for their clients. You'll find it uncanny how well they remember your last visit and conversation - they're just that good. If you need a haircut in Harrisonburg, VA, don't go anywhere else!

"Brown & Company are FANTASTIC! I would recommend Jay to anyone and have already told SEVERAL of my friends to visit them for the f450 smoothing treatment. If you're considering it, DO IT! I had wavy and frizzy hair, but after the treatment I can blow dry my hair with only my fingers and it looks BETTER than it would have if I would have spent an hour blow drying with a round brush and flat ironing it. Just got back from having Jay do a cute cut that I NEVER could have pulled off before the smoothing treatment. TWO THUMBS WAY UP!"
